History

Motech was founded in 1989 by two electrical engineers. During the early years, the company operated as a consultancy, providing specialist power electronic services to large organisations. In those days the company’s premises was a small shed in Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey.

By the mid-1990s, it became apparent there was a growing demand for special-purpose electronic motor controllers that were being used in an increasingly wide range of applications. So in 1997 Motech moved to its present site in Crawley, West Sussex, and began the design and manufacture of purpose-built electronic motor controllers.

As business increased, additional engineers were recruited, and Motech was able to offer switch-mode power supplies and microprocessor-based drives to complement its original analogue product range.
